Tomorrow is the big festival for Chinese.
The Dragon Boat Festival !
The Dragon Boat Festival, also called Double Fifth Festival, is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth moon of the lunar calendar.
It is one of the most important Chinese festivals, the other two being the Autumn Moon Festival and Chinese New Year.
Because tomorrow is Thursday, we have a long vacation during Thursday to Sunday.
I always look forward to this time every year.
In this time, I can eat a lot of the "pyramid-shaped mass of glutinous rice wrapped in leaves".
It is one of traditions in Dragon Boat Festival.
Another traditions are paddling the Dragon Boat and making eggs stand on the floor.
I have not paddle the Dragon Boat yet, but I have see my father and mother play it.
It was fun!
Why we have the Dragon Boat Festival ?
It's a long story........
The origin of this Festival is from a scholarly named Chu Yuan in ancient times.
He was a good and respected man, but because of the misdeeds of jealous rivals he eventually fell into disfavor in the emperor's court.
In the end, Chu Yuan kill himself by threw himself into the Mi Low river.
Because of their admiration for Chu Yuan,
the local people living adjacent to the Mi Lo River rushed into their boats to search for him while throwing rice into the waters to appease the river dragons.
That is the origin of Dragon Boat Festival.
It was the sad event in avcient times.
But today, we celebrate the Festival.
